Rückblick - Juristenball 2025

On March 1, 2025, our Juristenball took place once again. “Sold out” had already been written on the Juristenball website for weeks, because the probably oldest ball in the world was able to report a new visitor record this year thanks to the expansion with the Metternich Hall. Already upon arrival in the entrance of the Hofburg, the ball guests were welcomed true to the motto “VERY STRAUSS! JOIE DE VIVRE AND LIGHTNESS!”. The JOHANN STRAUSS WALTZ GIRLS played waltz music in the LEXISNEXIS CAFÉ framed by plants, and the espresso mobile invited to a cup of coffee. The photo wall was particularly elaborate this time: a replica of the STRAUSS monument in the Vienna Stadtpark with a true-to-scale reproduction of the statue impressed the arrivals and was a highly sought-after photo spot. Likewise, the magnificent flower arrangements and rose walls at the festive staircase were hotspots for social media fans.
The opening, confidently moderated by Mag. Silvia Schneider, was dedicated to the composer’s masterpiece: after the traditional entry of the guests of honor and the debutantes, ZORYANA KUSHPLER enchanted the audience with the couplet “I love to invite guests” and FRIEDERIKE MEINKE with the csárdás “Sounds of My Homeland,” accompanied by the CARL MICHAEL ZIEHRER ORCHESTRA. The young ladies and gentlemen delighted with a briskly danced “Juristenball Polka,” and after the speeches by the President of the Juristenverband RA DR. ALEXANDER T. SCHEUWIMMER, MBA, and the great-great nephew of Johann Strauss Jr., PROF. DR. EDUARD STRAUSS, the still-serving Minister of Justice DR. ALMA ZADIĆ opened the ball. In her speech, she compared politics and the rule of law to a waltz, as in both one should not fall out of step. The designated Minister of Justice DR. ANNA SPORRER watched her closely, as she will deliver the opening words next year.
The waltz formation of the Elmayer dance school and the opening committee presented the “Juristenball Dances” by Johann Strauss Jr. (op.177) in a highly acclaimed choreography by the Viennese waltz formation of the Elmayer dance school under the direction of Mag. Reinhard Hohenegger, and then came the long-awaited words “Alles Walzer” from PROF. THOMAS SCHÄFER-ELMAYER. That was the signal for the guests, and the floor quickly filled to the music of the PEPE ALLSTAR BAND. In the Radetzky Apartment, the operetta ensemble consisting of ANA MARIC, ALICJA CIESIELCZUK, GUSTAV W. MOST, and pianist LASZLO GYÜKER delighted operetta lovers with their program “Fledermaus Meets Wiener Blut”; in the Artists’ Room, MASUMI ORMANDY provided a jazz atmosphere, and hardly had the guests wandered through all the halls when the JANOSKA ENSEMBLE made their way to the stage to thrill the ball audience with their brilliant show. ZORYANA KUSHPLER brought another homage to the musical sovereign of the year JOHANN STRAUSS JR. and sang the famous “Tipsy Song,” accompanied by the wonderful musicians, and then the three brothers Frantisek, Ondrej, and Roman Janoska and their brother-in-law Julius Darvas showed what real music in the JANOSKA STYLE is.
Almost seamlessly, the first quadrille followed, led by Prof. Thomas Schäfer-Elmayer on a packed dance floor, and at 1:30 a.m. the drawing of the raffle prizes for the benefit of the Non-Profit Association “Against Violence,” moderated by the managing director of the association Prof. Marika Lichter, took place. There were valuable and much-desired prizes, and the happy winners were delighted with prizes from SPAK, LINDE VERLAG, NÄGELE\&STRUBELL, CIRO, ROBERTO CAVALLI, LEXISNEXIS, MANZ, VOSSEN, LILIRUSH, 25HOURS HOTEL, MOTTO HOTEL, JUSCOACH, UEBERREUTER, KATTUS, NEW AGE PHOTOGRAPHY, and CONNEX MARKETING.
As further entertainment, guests could try their luck at the CASINOS ON TOUR gaming table, the KARAOKE BAR was full, the wine tavern with DUO FRANZ LUIDOLT was heavily frequented, and the JUSTICE CLUBBING DELUXE with the judge DJs WALDI & WOLF as well as the disco with DJane MEL MERIO in the CAMPARI BAR were, as always, meeting points for the younger and young-at-heart visitors.
Upon leaving, guests were delighted with the LADIES’ GIFTS, once again generously sponsored by GMUNDNER KERAMIK. A beautiful coffee cup with saucer was the gift, along with pralines from ALTMANN & KÜHNE. But the gentlemen were also treated: in the MEN’S GIFT bag was a towel from the company VOSSEN, along with gingerbread pralines in a metal tin from METZGER & SÖHNE, an isotonic drink from ELOTRANS, and small giveaways from MANZ. All visitors also received a special lemonade, donated by KATTUS.
